father and brother which was missing from our films for some time,” he added.

★ Ajay Devgn’s fight with real tiger in HIMMATWALA a tribute to 80s

Mar 8th, 2013

When was the last time when one had seen the main stream stars of the present times fighting with a tiger on the screen? Not in the recent memory. Indeed, with the changing locations, and the element of urbanity being the predominant motif, as also the presence of animal right activists who honey comb the film to see whether there has been a violence against an animal when they are a part of cinema, has meant that the machoist acts of film stars when they fought on screen with the beast of the jungle, has become a part of folklore. Ajay Devgn's fight with real tigerin HIMMATWALA a tribute to 80s

But in the era of remakes, Sajid Khan has been smart enough to leverage the platform of HIMMATWALA to include a fight with a tiger on the screen in his latest offering. Indeed, it is one of the highlights of the remake HIMMATWALA where Ajay Devgn has fought with a real tiger. To avoid any controversy associated with the fighting scene, Mauritius was chosen as the location to shoot this scene, as Mauritius specializes in training tigers who can be used for shooting films. This scene was shot over a periodof one week, and this action scene was supervised by Ajay Devgn’s father Veeru Devgn.

The action scene would remind the viewers of the similar hand to paw fight that Big B indulged in, with the tiger in MR. NATWARLAL. As a matter of fact, Big B along with Dharmendra- who did it in scores of films including, MAA, AANKHEN, etc., where two stars who featured prominently in a fight with a tiger. As HIMMATWALA is a remake of the film of the era of the eighties, the inclusion of tiger fight could be a tribute to that era of Hindi cinema.
One may also ponder whether the inclusion of fight with the Tiger in HIMMATWALA by Sajid Khan has been an after thought, after the phenomenal success of LIFE OF PI, where the tiger played an important role? Even other wise, Sajid Khan has a penchant for wild animals, as he showed it in HOUSEFULL 2 as well, where Asin had a crocodile as a pet. The wild animals could be the lucky mascotfor Sajid Khan and the tiger could do the trick for HIMMATWALA as well!
